Dr. Riaz Khan

Veterinarian/Founder

For 37 years, Dr. Riaz Khan, founder and director of Powder Springs Animal Clinic, has been serving the town of Powder Springs and surrounding communities as a valued veterinarian. Dr. Khan graduated from veterinary school in 1972, worked with the Health Department in Houston, TX for several years, and was then licensed to practice medicine in Georgia in 1979. He was accredited in 1978 by the American Veterinary Medial Association.

Dr. Khan is honored to be treasurer of Westside Animal Emergency Clinic. He donates funds, time, and services to numerous animal organizations and charities and welcomes new opportunities to help our furry friends.

During his first fifteen years of practice, Dr. Khan worked a mixed practice (large and small animals). In 1995, the demand of small animal medicine and surgeries was at an all time high. Dr. Khan then decided to focus his attention on small animal medicine, however, he still treats larger animals on occasion.

Dr. Khan and his family have been blessed with four human children, one cat, and two dogs.

Dr. Jasmyn P.J. Virgo, DVM

She has worked with both small and large animals prior to vet school. She graduated from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Since vet school she has worked majority in small animal but she has a passion for working with horses. Dr Virgo is excited to return to her hometown to serve side-by-side with Dr. Khan, to provide small and large animal services. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, arts & crafts, various outdoor activities and simply having fun and enjoying life each and every day. Dr. Virgo has three furry children: Cap’N Jack, a Beagle mix, Cooper, a Labrador mix and Bella Blue, an American Bulldog/Pit mix. “Becoming a veterinarian has always been a lifelong dream of mine, since I was very young. I believe that our furry friends are in our lives for a reason; to make our lives better. I enjoy being around animals and I do not feel I could be in any other field other than veterinary medicine. Through the ups and downs of the field, it still brings me peace of mind. I look forward to spending the rest of my life working in veterinary medicine.”
